Case 2: Maximizing ROI and productivity
Situation
A golf course and resort management company wanted to reduce the time it took to make buying decisions each year and increase consistency across the organization to ensure improved return on investment in company purchases.
Intervention
Andrew worked with the organization to create a standard process for identifying, evaluating and pre-qualifying suppliers within numerous categories. The capabilities of each supplier were evaluated and if they were approved, they were added to the pre-qualified list. When products or services were needed, suppliers were chosen directly from the pre-qualified list, thus simplifying the buying process.
Resolution
As a result of the streamlined process, there were three benefits to the organization: reduced purchasing costs through the use of a preferred supplier program; increased productivity through the elimination of non-value added activities; and reduced cycle time for making purchasing decisions.
