Andrew Miller on strategy, operations, life balance and everything in between
Toronto – June 6, 2011 – With the prolific use of Twitter and other social media platforms requiring us to consolidate our thoughts into 140 characters or less, it would be easy to assume that our language would be subjugated to a series of grunts and groans. However, those that are loyal to the power of language will not let this happen. The way to differentiate one's self from the masses through these platforms is to ensure that our provocative thoughts are not diluted just because we are using fewer words. It takes reflection and command of a language to create something profound and provocative in 140 characters or less. Most of what we read is taken from others (quotes) or is a link to someone else's information (articles, blogs, etc.). The essence of the power of language is the ability to create something thought-provoking and inspiring in 140 characters or less, not the ability to regurgitate someone else's intellectual property. We should each take on a personal challenge to develop something thought-provoking and powerful using our own words, not the words of others.
